Care tips: English Ivy (Hedera helix)
Hedera helix, commonly known as English ivy, is a fast-growing vine native to Europe and Western Asia. It is a popular indoor and outdoor ornamental plant, utilised for climbing walls, hanging baskets, and as groundcover. It is highly adaptable but considered aggressive and invasive in many regions. This is why it is perfect kept constrained in a Kokedama!
💧 Watering
- Moisture: Let the Kokedama dry out between watering, don't keep them constantly moist. They don't like long periods of drought though.
☀️ Light & Temperature

Light: Place in filtered, indirect light to ensure lush leaf growth. Strictly avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. These plants can tolerate lower light however variegated plants will need to be in a brighter spot to keep the foliage from reverting back to a solid green.

- Climate: Try to keep in a cooler space ranging from 15°C to 24°C. Avoid scorching direct sunlight, heaters and dry air. English ivy loves humidity. If your home is dry (especially during winter or if you have the air conditioner running) place the Kokedama on a tray filled with water and pebbles, or mist the leaves occasionally.
