Care tips: Epipremnum family
Epipremnum plants, commonly known as Devil's Ivy or Pothos, belong to the Araceae family. In Australia, these evergreen, tropical climbing vines naturally occur in the warm, humid rainforests of Queensland. Their popularity as indoor plants has led to the development of multiple colour variegations ranging from solid green to white and green, yellow and green and lime green.
These plants are super hardy and are a fantastic introduction to the world of plant parenting!
💧 Watering
- Moisture: Let the Kokedama completely dry out between watering. They can be left dry for a little while before giving them a drink. A good sign that the plant is ready for watering is when the leaves appear dull, soft or wilted.
☀️ Light & Temperature
- Light: Place in bright, filtered, indirect light to ensure large leaf growth. Strictly avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. The plant can also be place in a lower light situation, however the new foliage will be smaller, and at a slower rate of growth.
- Climate: Keep between 15–29°C. These plants don't like the cold much. They are super hardy though, and will tolerate household climates well.
✂️ Maintenance
- Yellow/dropping leaves? If overwatered, the foliage will go yellow/brown, then drop off all over the vine. Leaves will keep dropping closer to the base to make sure the newest leaves get the most available moisture. Once the leaves have dropped, they will not grow back. This would be a time to chop the vine right back or take some cuttings to propagate new plants. Unsure how to propagate from cuttings? Read HERE
🐶🐱 Pet safety
- All Epipremnum plants are toxic to your furry friends. Keep out of reach of taste testers!
