Care tips: Monstera family
Monsteras are tropical evergreen vines native to Central and South America, belonging to the Araceae family. In Australia, they thrive as indoor plants! The most popular varieties are the Monstera deliciosa (Fruit Salad Plant), and the Monstera adansonii (Swiss Cheese Plant).
💧 Watering
- Moisture: Water only when the Kokedama is completely light and dry. Overwatering is the most common cause of problems such as yellowing leaves.
☀️ Light & Temperature
- Light: Bright, indirect sunlight is best. Protect the leaves from harsh, direct sun (which will scorch them), but ensure they get enough light to encourage their signature fenestrations (splits and holes).
- Climate: They love humidity. If your home is dry or air-conditioned, mist them regularly. Wipe the large leaves with a damp cloth to clear dust and improve photosynthesis.
✂️ Maintenance
- Support & Training: As natural climbers, Monsteras thrive and produce larger, split leaves when given support. Tie their stems and aerial roots to a moss pole.Need help? Contact us to organise a re-wrap and pole upgrade!
🐶🐱 Pet safety
- All Monstera plants are mildly toxic to your furry friends. Keep out of reach of taste testers!
