Care tips: Parlour Palm (Chamedorea elegans)
If you’re looking to bring a touch of tropical elegance into your home or office, Parlour Palms are a fantastic choice. They are relatively low-maintenance, slender in appearance, and lend a calming, lush aesthetic to interiors. They are also on the NASA list of best plants for air purifying.
💧 Watering
- Moisture: Whilst being tolerant of dryness, try not to leave the plant too long between drinks during the warmer months.
☀️ Light & Temperature
- Light: These palms prefer low to moderate indirect light—bright enough to support healthy fronds, but never direct sunlight, which can scorch their delicate leaves.
-
Climate: Keep between 18–26°C. Avoid drafts from heating and air-conditioning.
✂️ Maintenance
- Browning foliage: Generally a sign of under watering (if crispy), this is easy to remedy - remove the dead foliage and new foliage will grow in its place. Just keep an eye on the watering.
🐶🐱 Pet safety
- Parlour Palms are non-toxic and completely safe for your furry friends.
